Plan for heat, rain and debris

A Florida pool can change quickly while you are away. Hot water increases sanitizer demand, afternoon rain can dilute chemistry and a single windy day can load baskets with debris.

The longer the trip, the more valuable it is to have someone check the pool rather than relying on a large chemical dose before departure.

Complete this checklist before leaving

Handle routine maintenance close to departure so the pool starts from a stable condition.

  • Test and balance the water
  • Empty skimmer and pump baskets
  • Brush and vacuum as needed
  • Confirm the timer and circulation schedule
  • Check the water level
  • Secure gates and provide access instructions

Do not make unfamiliar changes at the last minute

Vacation morning is not the time to experiment with equipment settings or a product you have never used. An incorrect valve position or chemical dose can create a larger problem while the property is unattended.

Arrange dependable weekly care

If service is scheduled, make sure the provider can reach the pool and equipment safely. Share gate, alarm and pet instructions in advance, and confirm how urgent concerns should be communicated.
